Board of Directors Opportunities

Help Build a Community of Hope

January 2016

The Healing Center is actively seeking passionate and experienced board members
to help guide the growth of our organization.

About The Healing Center

The Healing Center is a place to help people who have experienced the premature death of a spouse or partner, parent, or sibling. We provide peer support groups for all age groups, providing a space where people can be with others who have shared a similar experience, and learn to integrate their grief into their lives by gaining practical and emotional coping skills.THC_image 1

We have operated in Seattle for more than 15 years, and we serve children, adults and families from King County. We are the only organization in King County which offers peer support groups for as long as our clients need them. Offering this space for individuals and families is an essential community service: our clients, staff, board members and volunteers hope to mitigate the stigma associated with death and suicide.

Growing Our Board of Directors

We currently serve more than 400 people each year, but we know that the unmet need for our services is much greater. To this end, The Healing Center is thoughtfully developing our capacity to serve more clients. Our vision is to reach everyone in King County who needs a safe place to grieve, to heal and to find support.

Building our board is a critical step to reaching this goal. Board members oversee the strategic growth of the organization and help to raise money so we can realize our vision. We are looking to broaden the expertise of our board, adding in new energy and new skills to get this important work done.

The Healing Center Needs People Like You

Our board is a community of caring people working together to make a real difference in the lives of those who have experienced trauma. As a board member, you will be part of a lively, respectful and committed team. For some board members, serving is an opportunity to “give back” because they personally know how important support can be after a trauma. For others, it is simply an expression of their compassion and a way to get involved and make positive change in their community.
