Welcome to The Healing Center (“we,” “us,” “our”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and us of our website healingcenterseattle.org (the “Site”) and any services we provide. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Site.
1. About Our Organization
The Healing Center is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to offer a safe place that honors and normalizes grief, providing hope, learning, and support. The Site provides information about our programs, accepts donations, gathers service requests, and facilitates community engagement in support of our mission.
2. Use of the Site
2.1 Permitted Use. You may use the Site to learn about our organization, make donations, register for events, request an intake, sign up for newsletters, and engage with our programs as intended.
2.2 Prohibited Activities. You agree not to: (a) use the Site for any unlawful purpose; (b) attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems; (c) interfere with the proper functioning of the Site; (d) impersonate any person or entity; (e) transmit viruses, malware, or harmful code; (f) harvest or collect information about other users; or (g) use the Site in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair our operations.
3. Donations and Payments
3.1 Tax-Deductible Donations. Donations made to The Healing Center are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. We will provide a receipt of donation for tax purposes. Please consult your tax advisor regarding the deductibility of your contribution.
3.2 Payment Processing. We use third-party payment processors to handle donation and payment transactions. By making a donation or payment, you agree to the terms and privacy of our payment processor(s). We do not store your complete credit card information on our servers.
3.3 Recurring Donations. If you set up a recurring donation, your payment method will be charged automatically at the frequency you selected until you cancel. You may cancel your recurring donation at any time by contacting us.
3.4 Donation Allocation. Unless you specify otherwise, donations will be used where they are most needed to support our mission. If you wish to designate your donation for a specific program or purpose, please contact us. We will make reasonable efforts to honor your designation. However, if that program is discontinued or fully funded, we reserve the right to redirect your donation to a similar purpose that aligns with our mission.
3.5 Event Registration and Fees. Registration fees for events are generally non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by us. If an event is canceled, we will provide a full refund or allow you to apply the registration fee to a future event.
4. Refund Policy
4.1 General Policy. All donations are final and non-refundable except as described below. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on donations to fund our programs.
4.2 Erroneous Donations. If you believe you made a donation in error (e.g. wrong amount, duplicate charge), please contact us within 30 days. We will review your request and may issue a refund at our discretion.
4.3 Fraudulent Transactions. If we determine that a transaction was fraudulent or unauthorized, we will issue a full refund and take appropriate action to prevent future unauthorized use.
4.4 Processing Time. Approved refunds will be processed within 30 business days and will be returned to the original payment method used for the transaction.
5. Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, available at healingcenterseattle.org/privacy-policy. By using the Site, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.
6. Third-Party Links and Content
Our website may contain links to third-party websites, products, or services that we do not own or control.
Content on the Site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, links). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other websites. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content, or if you have an account and are logged into that website.
7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
7.1 “As Is” Basis. THIS SITE AND ALL CONTENT AND SERVICES PROVIDED THROUGH THE SITE ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
7.2 No Guarantee of Availability. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that defects will be corrected. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content on the Site.
7.3 Third-Party Links and Embedded Content. The Site may contain links to or embedded content from third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party. Accessing third-party sites is at your own risk.
7.4 Limitation of Liability. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE HEALING CENTER, ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, VOLUNTEERS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM: (a) YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SITE; (b) ANY UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR USE OF OUR SERVERS AND/OR ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION STORED THEREIN; (c) ANY INTERRUPTION OR CESSATION OF THE SITE; (d) ANY BUGS, VIRUSES, OR OTHER HARMFUL CODE TRANSMITTED THROUGH THE SITE; (e) ANY ERRORS OR OMISSIONS IN CONTENT; OR (f) ANY CONDUCT BY ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SITE.
7.5 Maximum Liability. IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL DAMAGES EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRIOR TO THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE LIABILITY, OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Healing Center, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Site; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any rights of another party; or (d) any content you submit or transmit through the Site.
9. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Site will immediately cease. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification provisions.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. 11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

11.2 Dispute Resolution. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of an Arbitration Organization of our choice, or, if you prefer, through the courts of King County. You agree to waive any right to a jury trial.
12. Miscellaneous
12.1 Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and The Healing Center regarding the use of the Site.
12.2 Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
12.3 Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of that provision or our right to enforce it in the future.
12.4 Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights hereunder without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
