The Art of Loss: a spotlight on art about grief
Javelin, Sufjan Stevens
This album is dedicated to Steven’s long-term partner who died in 2023 at age 43. It explores grief, love, and the connections that transcend death.
Book of Hours, Kevin Young
After experiencing the concurrent death of his father and birth of his son, Young writes about what it means to grieve a father while becoming a father. These poems chart the cyclical nature of loss and love and capture the enduring legacy of loved-ones passed.

Death & Music
Death & Music is an event created by John Richards and Dr. Amy Lindsey over a decade ago when they wanted to make a physical space that correlated with the on-air space created for sharing stories and connecting through music and grief (The Mom Show and Music Heals: Grief.)
Join KEXP, Town Hall Seattle, and hosts John Richards and Dr. Amy Lindsey with a group of very special and generous guests for Death & Music — a night of celebration, grief, music, joy, community, and sharing stories and experiences at Town Hall.
November 18th @ 6pm
Facing Death on Your Terms
Town Hall Seattle hosts end of life experts Wendy Norman and Dr. George Birchfield as they explore how to take ownership of your final wishes, communicate them confidently, and align your decisions with your deepest values. Planning for end-of-life is about shaping your death (whether expected or unexpected) to reflect your life, your love, and your legacy. They’ll discuss the tools, choices, and conversations that ensure your final moments are as you’ve wished them to be.
Season of Giving
Because The Healing Center doesn’t charge for services, donations from community members like you keeps our mission going. Thank you to the many clients and friends who are giving to ensure grieving adults and kids can access the free support and validation they deserve. Your generosity helps us hire therapists, host groups and summer camps, purchase supplies, and reach people in need.
Every gift, of any amount, makes a difference. If you’d like to help support The Healing Center, please join us today as we honor Children’s Grief Awareness Month and celebrate this Season of Giving.
